First Vacation Club Resort Stay

The resort is an enormous property with tons of amenities. The traveler’s parkway is an excellent feature for guests going to Disney while skipping the crazy traffic on the main highway. Golf courses are well kept, pools were clean and actually quiet. There are plenty of sidewalks and paths for running or walking. The restaurants were extremely convenient but they did automatically add gratuity to every food purchase and that’s unfortunate for good servers and unfortunate for guests when faced with bad service. Overall we had a great stay and would return. There is plenty to do at the resort for all ages and a great escape from the hustle and bustle of going to the Disney or Universal Parks.

Yes, I recommend this property.

Great location, great pools, great poolside bar.

Check intakes forever because they try everything possible to get you to sign up for the timeshare presentation so you can save maybe $150-$200 during your stay. The main restaurant at check-in I think was called the breeze understaffed. All the pools were amazing. All the bar side pools were amazing staff at all the pools were phenomenal. The room you pick out when you book will not be the room you get the pictures didn’t even match at all. Bathrooms are a little outdated room is outdated but overall a nice clean place to stay.

Yes, I recommend this property.

Timeshares are bad

Former IHG Global Ambassador, terrible experience

Resort is fine. It’s Orlando so you’re not seeing beaches or anything. Pools and manicured golf courses here. So no complaints on the grounds or facilities. Dining at the resort is not great. No finer options, mainly burger and fries or pizza type things. Cool for a kid destination. Drinks are $20 and up and reminds me of an all inclusive resort, but it’s not. No prices on menus, gratuity automatically added. Bottom line, very mediocre food and bev at premium prices. Now let’s talk the timeshare pitch…. We checked in which was an unnecessarily long process and involved three different people. Last one was the initial sales pitch for a timeshare presentation. Ok, sure. I already know this is the type of place that will change premium for each drink, burger, or float rental. So I accepted their offer to hear them out. Was told there would be a full breakfast provided and a quick 90 minute tour in exchange for $200 resort credit. Cool, sounds good. The next morning we arrived, no breakfast, just a cheap coffee dispenser and juice machine you’d find at any holiday inn express. Immediately we’re paired with a sales person that starts off super nice and your best friend. “Hey this is your vacation, we won’t take too much time, and it’s completely ok to say no.” Tour took 2.5 hours and after high pressure sales pitches from 3 people. The 2nd one was particularly condescending. I finally had enough and walked out. They kept saying how great Holiday Inn Vacations are and we haven’t even been there 12 hours to see the resort. Completely put a bad vibe on the entire trip. DO NOT DO THE TIMESHARE TOUR!

Horrible Resort -Stay somewhere else!!!

This was the worst hotel of my life. I decided to stay here because it was raved about in a timeshare presentation I had. Arrived after 9pm and was told I’d be staying in the north village. I explained I received an email id be in the East Village and the agent told me I was lying and they never send emails like that. I go get my phone and show the email and then he finally gives me a room in the east village which was far. I get there and go into a room that is fully occupied and the people are scared as am I. I text the front desk about the issue and they casually say return to the front desk. No apologies or nothing. Get back to the front desk with really nice lady who finally apologized for the mix up. Get another room in East village. Go all the way there to get an old outdated room. We like to wipe things down with Lysol wipes and ALL the tables in the living room were full of dust and dirt. Then my kid goes to her room to find some weird bug in her bed. We stayed only that one night and checked out first thing the next morning. To add insult to injury, instead of putting the credit for the refund of the unused nights back on the card, they put it on a totally different card that I had on file. Again I say this was the worst stay for me. I’m glad I was able to find a better resort last minute.

Wonderful

Staff and property was lovely. This is the second time I've stayed at OL and will stay again. Pools and activities were fantastic. We even had a little alligator friend that the family was very excited about.

Yes, I recommend this property.

Best part of my vacation

I went to clear water beach and stayed at a Hilton and I went to universal a few days. This resort is by far the best part of my vacation. You can relax in the lazy river and the staff were amazing. My only issue but like all hotels and resorts you can’t get a refund for stuff you don’t use. But like I said I travel all the time and is still my best experience at a hotel hands down

Yes, I recommend this property.

Beware of renovations in the building you get

Depending on which building, parking can be a major issue. We have stayed at Orange Lake many times and this was the first time that our experience was not up to standard. I would recommend shopping other locations at this time until renovations are complete.

No, I do not recommend this property.

Waste of time, disgusted

Be careful booking online

Be careful when booking online. When you get to the resort, they charge you much more than you initially booked online, which includes the resort fees and taxes. When I sent them a email, they just ignored it. The first room was moldy and disgusting. Had to get a new room. You’ll get bugs and snakes in your room too.

Great Value for what you pay, but cut corners :(

I left some items at the Hotel. Normally most places that this has happened, (only 2 other times in 30 years) the items were returned quickly and without costs. This time I had to register at "Chargerback" and the only option was to pay $33 for something that could be shipped for maybe $8?. The medication and vitamins I left might be worth about $30, so not worth it for me, just a pain in the neck. The room itself is very nice. Recently updated, I like the new L shaped sleeper sofa, but the new dining room table is so small compared to the old one that it just feels out of place. The new updated and larger TV's are very nice. I brought some DVD's and CD's to play while there, but the DVD player is gone. I was however able to connect both my Samsung DEX and Stream through my iPad so no big deal. The wifi said the connection would be good for 24hours, but I had to sign in EVERY time, even when going from one area of the resort to another. The pool areas are fairly nice. Not Disney Nice, but nicer than most. We didn't go this time, because of all the rain but the last time we went Jonathan kept getting stuck at the bottom of the slide, so a little disappointed. Not sure if it's because he's so big (Jonathan just turned 21, but is non-verbal autistic - a Child in a man's body) About a week before arriving, we had to change from a Saturday check in to a Sunday check in, but still left on Weds. We've gone at least a half dozen times if not more before and always stayed in the same room, when we arrived I asked if we could stay in the same room and immediately, without even looking I was told "NO". I asked if he knew the room I stayed in the last time and he said no, so I gave him the number and of course he said no... again.

Yes, I recommend this property.
